Collaborative LessonsHere are some great examples of collaborative lessons conducted at PCMS! Each of these lessons were delivered as a result of a team effort...and the results benefited our students.
Most lessons involve a LibGuide, created by the media specialist, along with any relevant presentations, assignment guides and student handouts.

Poetry CentersAfter an introduction to "What Makes a Poem", students rotated through centers to create their own poetry OR they could choose to participate in a digital breakout centered around poetry.
Poetry Intro Center Cards Math MappingIn this lesson, students combined their knowledge of geography with ratios, scales and length as they solved mathematical mapping problems and then created their own maps that incorporated word problems.
Math Mapping LibGuide Student Handout Understanding Censorship and Banned BooksFor this lesson, students were introduced to the idea of censorship and how it applies to school libraries and their freedom to read. Once the presentation was complete, students completed a censorship webquest that helped highlight important vocabulary and brought attention to the most challenged and banned book titles.
Webquest on Censorship Censorship and Banned Books Presentation Cell CampaignIn learning about the cell, students were tasked with developing a campaign focused on the next "head of the cell", as the wise nucleus was stepping down from its duties. Students were required to create an entire campaign in an attempt to convince others to vote for their organelle, while mudslinging against the other organelles!

Civil Rights Inquiry StationsFor this activity, students rotated through various stations highlighting different aspects of American history, from the Harlem Renaissance to the Civil Rights movement. One station involved a virtual reality tour of the journey from Selma to Montgomery in 1965.

They were able to bring their story to life through a combination of research and technology tools!
Storytelling with Tour Builder LibGuide Southeast Asia Photo EssayIn learning about southeast Asia, students were asked to develop a photo essay and other products associated with the protest in Tiananmen Square or the Cultural Revolution in that area. Students were busy analyzing the impact of photos and how they tell a story without words in the Padlet activity. They were then taught how to use a tool called Adobe Spark to create their own photo essays.
Photo Essay Presentation Padlet Activity Telling Stories with Digital StorytellingIn this assignment, students were asked to create a story of Georgia's history through digital storytelling. They researched a topic in Georgia's history, created storyboards and compiled pictures and content to create a story emphasizing their topic.
